Medicare & Hearing Aids:
What's Covered in Nebraska & Iowa
Wondering if Medicare will help pay for hearing aids? Original Medicare doesn't cover hearing aids,
but some Medicare Advantage plans do. Our team will check your plan for you and walk you
through your options, at no cost.
Does Medicare Cover Hearing Aids?
Original Medicare (Parts A & B)
Does not cover hearing aids or hearing aid fittings.
Medicare Advantage (Part C)
Some plans include hearing benefits, such as an allowance or discount on hearing aids.
Medicaid
Coverage depends on the state program. We accept Nebraska Medicaid and Iowa Medicaid.
Original Medicare (Parts A & B)
Original Medicare does not pay for routine hearing aids or the exams used to fit them. Medicare Part B may cover a diagnostic hearing and balance exam when your doctor orders it to check a medical concern, such as dizziness.
If you have Original Medicare only, hearing aids are usually an out-of-pocket cost. Our team can walk you through financing options.
Medicare Advantage Hearing Benefits
Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. Some plans go beyond Original Medicare and include hearing benefits such as:
- Hearing tests
- An allowance or discount toward hearing aids
- Fitting and adjustment visits
- Batteries, repairs or replacements, depending on the plan
Benefits differ from plan to plan, so we'll review yours with you.
Nebraska & Iowa Medicaid
We accept both Nebraska Medicaid and Iowa Medicaid. Hearing aid coverage for adults depends on the state program and may require documentation of medical need. Call us and we'll help you find out what your plan includes.
